Gingerbread with sourdough
Christmas is not Christmas without gingerbread. It's very easy to make, so you can even get the kids involved.
Ingredients
- 130 g honey
- 1 package gingerbread spice mix
- 150 g butter or margarine
- 150 g sugar
- 2 db Egg all
- 1/2 orange or lemon juice
- 500 g flour
- 50 g sourdough
Instructions
- Measure the honey into a saucepan, add the gingerbread spice mix and start heating. Add the butter and when melted, leave to cool.
- In another bowl, mix the sugar with the eggs. Squeeze in the juice of an orange or lemon.
- In a third bowl, measure out the flour, add the sugar and egg mixture, the leaven and the honey mixture and knead. Wrap in cellophane and refrigerate for a few hours.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough, cut it into shapes of your choice.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 12-15 minutes on the top and bottom baking programmes (oven dependent).
- Then you can decorate. I store them in an airtight container, so they stay soft and smooth.
